(Me voilà, avec mes excuses pour le délai, mais en fait je ne dois pas m’excuser puisque c’est à cause de vous … c’est le prix d’avoir fait attendre vos fans si longtemps à la release )


Votre “Intimate Tribute to Sweet Baby James” est très très très impressionnant = mes félicitations à tous ceux qui ont participé à ce projet. Mon dieu, je n’avais aucune idée de tous ces talents cachés derrière les noms des Amis. Je pensais que probablement vous étiez des p’tits amateurs comme moi et c’est ainsi que je commençais à écouter avec une toute petite oreille… eh bien, c’était une révélation !

J’étais fort agréablement surprise, même stupéfaite par le disque entier. C’est plus que professionnel…c’est joué et chanté avec du plaisir, avec du cœur, avec passion. Mais ce qui me touche surtout c’est d’entendre ce grand amour, cette admiration, votre gratitude et votre respect envers Mister Taylor. Cela saute de chaque note…et cela ajoute une brillance spéciale à votre bijou. Ce n’est pas un hommage traditionnel comme il y a des centaines envers des idoles différentes, le vôtre est un tribute avec un cœur qui bat.
Y-a-t-il un meilleur moyen, un plus beau cadeau, un cadeau plus personnel pour le remercier et lui rendre honneur ???

Puisque je suis un fan de Eugene Ruffolo (d’ailleurs ce sont ses différents JT-covers qui m’ont fait découvrir JT (je le connaissais que par nom) et c’est en ‘googlant’ Ruffolo que je suis tombée ici sur votre site, cfr Sam’s “Un nouvel opus somptueux”) et de Doc Schneider, je suis très émue par leur version magnifique de Blossom… tellement gentille et tendre… ça fleurit comme une première petite narcisse au printemps… et c’est très émouvant d’entendre ce grand auteur de chansons magnifiques chanter “there’s a song inside me, take these chains away...”. Well, JT took his chains away, as well as Mr. Ruffolo did … le professionnel le prend sur les ailes comme il l’a fait sur “Songs & Stories”. C’est magnifique ça !
Encore une surprise “Oh Baby, Don’t You Loose.. ” .... c’est un Ruffolo que je ne connaissais pas encore, et sacrénomdepipe, quelle voix !

Et encore ceci = C’est donc un vrai plaisir d’écouter le disque, très agréable par sa diversité de voix et de genres. Très personnel par chacun des artistes (j’adôôôre la partie en français dans “Steamroller’s Blues”)
Et ce n’est qu’avoir écouté plusieurs fois que je le mettais enfin sur Repeat et découvrais ainsi les hidden tracks, ça alors !
Je suppose que c’est Marc Perez qui chante cette belle version de “Something In The Way She Moves” ???
Mais j’ai un petit problème avec Eugene’s second version of “Don’t You Loose” …. puisque ça ne peut pas être good ol’Satchmo ça doit être quelqu’un de vous autres qui fait le rigolo… c’est hilarant… c’est toi, Sam ???

Last but not least, the layout of your jewel-case est en Pure Haute Couture!!!! Que c’est BEAU!

Damned, Oh My God !!! the secret of hiden tracks is revelated .....

Realy Claus, you did not know ?

In fact, if you look at the time, the last song "Suite for 20G" as more than ....10 minutes of duration because of the bonus tracks,

" Something in the way ... " is not part of the "Sweet Baby James" album, so we decided with Sam to include your nice version but hiden like a wink for fan's and JT himself.
And the ending words by Eugene close very well the CD in my opinion.

The american fans being rather shy to order our tribute CD, I think we could invite all our english speaking friends (and longtime JTOers)who like the CD to "plead" our case before the other on the Joel Risberg website or the JT facebook page.

This tribute represent really a great link between us all and I hope it will permit more great projects and meetings in the near future...

No i swear i had no idea it made it on the cd, i thought it was just the SBJ songs, which makes sense to me.
So it was a nice surprise that Lia found it :-) Are there more hidden secrets on the cd, something we haven't figured yet ? :-)

Yes CC, there's another gem as hidden track: an alternate version of "Baby don't you loose your lip on me" bu Eugene Ruffolo. (the one I call "the Elvis version")

In fact he fused the both tracks - (the end of "Something" with the beginning of "Baby") and it works perfectly well. It's as if Eugene and you were in the same room!

Yes Sam, i noticed that, what a fine idea to "melt" both tracks into one.

The Princess of Belgium has emptied her necklace in her royal hands and scattered pearls of appreciation on the band of brothers who stepped forth in an international tribute to the wonderful James Taylor.

Lia, using your technical wizardry, please send everyone on this chain the mp3 of the song written in your honor called "Song for the Lights of Belgium" -- I will try to put it up on my website but I am sure this group would like to hear it.

Note that Sam has asked that you take your tam tam and shine a light on the American James Taylor fan site and let them know what you think of this record -- to say nothing of the hidden tracks.

I agree with Sam that this really is a gift from JT fans to JT fans. Here we are, for 40 years, bent over guitars, performing these songs in private, just for the sheer joy of it -- for a song really enters your heart when you sing it alone. But we are men and women around the world, strumming guitars, some masterfully like Marc Perez and Claus and Eugene, and some far less so, like me, and we let the songs fly forth -- and we have done this for ourselves and our friends and sometimes perhaps a little bigger audience -- but at last on this tribute, we have gathered around an international fire, pulled up a guitar and pushed the record button, with the intention of offering a fan's tribute to a great artist. The result is touching. I imagine that James might listen to each of us, one by one, singing some song or another of his, watching us with his trademark thin slip of a smile and an amused sparkle in his nifty little eyes -- and then nodding his head in modest appreciation, he might say "well, I just want to stop and thank you" -- or he might just reach out one of his long arms and knock knuckles with us. In any event, that is what I imagine when I hear this tribute -- there is a lot of love in it, there is a lot of the best of the human spirit in it -- gathering under an umbrella of beauty and truth and lifting our voices in appreciation.
